Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 10, 2025 • Applies to the Steam version of Spectro: Phantom Tower
Borrowed Light Studios LLC (“we”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you play Spectro: Phantom Tower on Steam and how you can control it.
What we collect
If you allow analytics (via the in-game prompt): we collect gameplay and usage events (e.g., session length, item pickups, level outcomes) and technical identifiers used by the analytics service (an app-generated installation ID, IP address, and device/OS information). We do not collect your real name or email for analytics.
Always collected for operation & security (no consent needed): crash/error logs (e.g., stack traces, device/OS info) to fix bugs, and Steam platform data required for features you choose to use (achievements, cloud saves, leaderboards) via Steamworks.
Your choices
On first run we ask: Allow analytics? You can Decline. You can change this anytime in Settings → Other → Allow Analytics. If you turn it off later, we stop sending new analytics events.
How we use data
- Provide game features (Steam achievements/cloud saves/leaderboards).
- Fix bugs and improve stability (crash/error logs).
- Improve balance and features (analytics only if you accepted).
Processors / sharing
We use service providers (“processors”) to run analytics and crash reporting. For analytics we use Unity Analytics (Unity Technologies). Providers process data on our instructions and may store it outside your country with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell or share your data for advertising.
For more on Unity’s handling of analytics data, see Unity’s Privacy Policy.
Retention
We don’t keep separate copies of analytics data. When you allow analytics, events are sent to Unity Analytics, which stores them according to Unity’s own retention schedule. We use the data only to operate and improve the game and keep it no longer than necessary for those purposes. If you withdraw consent, we stop sending new events. Previously collected data may remain within Unity’s systems until their retention period ends and may persist only in aggregate form.
International transfers
If data is processed outside your region, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., standard contractual clauses) via our processors.
Legal bases
Consent (analytics where required) and legitimate interests (security/crash logs; essential Steam features you choose to use).
Your rights
If you’re in the UK/EEA, you may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data, and you can withdraw consent at any time in the game’s Settings (or by contacting us).
Children
The game is for players aged 13+. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
Changes
We’ll update this policy as needed and revise the “Last updated” date above.
